Sacrament of the Sick

The Sacrament of the Sick is one of many ways that the Church carries on the healing ministry of Christ the Divine Physician.

By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ.   Catechism of the Catholic Church 1499

This sacrament is not just for the dying but for anyone experiencing a truly serious illness, including preparation for major surgery. This Sacrament offers grace to strengthen the soul and, if God so wills, bring healing to the body. The sick are encouraged to unite their sufferings with that of the suffering Christ

To arrange for this sacrament, please contact one of the parish priests at the parish office, 816.741.2800
